Hard work and a NASA Astronaut
We are getting closer to competition and students are starting to feel the pressure of getting their projects completed. The teams will be judged in three areas: The Robot Game, Core Values Poster, and The Project.
Teams are actively working on their robots, designing accessories and programming. The goal is to have these complete in the next couple weeks so that they can run trials to be sure everything is accurate.
The Projects that the teams must complete are a solution to a problem that humans face during long term
space travel. For the competition, the teams have to present to the judges their solution to the problem. Both teams have a problem/solution and have decided to do a skit, we will start to focus on these soon.
The Core Values poster is a place for the teams to show how they have used the FIRST Core Values throughout the season. We have talked in depth about these, and they have brainstormed each value. I am planning to have one of our extra sessions dedicated to creating these posters and I am hoping that I will have a few parents join me to make these poster amazing!
Our competition date and site have been assigned. We are competing on December 15 at Mentor Graphics in Wilsonville. Here is information on this date/location. This is an all day event, please be prepared with snacks and lunch for your child. I will send out more information as is it available.
